Arc Raiders EMP Trap Route Tips by U4GM

Arc Raiders Straight Record guide: locate Victory Ridge's EMP trap, tackle every switch in order, and use the safest route through Dam Battlegrounds.

Victory Ridge gets noisy fast, which is why I usually treat Straight Record as a quick in-and-out job rather than a loot run. Bring a cheap, dependable kit and keep your bag clear for useful finds or ARC Raiders Items you may want to compare against later. The quest starts after Broken Monument and takes place on Dam Battlegrounds, between Ruby Residence and West Broken Bridge. You are looking for one fixed machine, not a collectible: a thin EMP pole on a dirt slope, wrapped in wires with a round unit near the top.

Read the Ground Before You Start Moving.

Walk up to the pole and use the interaction prompt first. It is tempting to dash straight toward the nearest marker, but take a second to look around. The whole route makes more sense from the trap itself. One switch sits uphill, another is inside the battered house nearby, and the last one is tied to the pole by a cable running south. That cable matters more than the map marker sometimes does. If you lose your bearings during a fight, get back to the pole and rebuild the route from there. It saves a lot of pointless wandering.

The House Is Where People Lose Time.

Go to the hill switch first. It is close, though standing on the ridge can leave you outlined against the sky. Use rocks or trees on the way up, hit the switch, then move off before you start checking your tracker. From there, head to the ruined house. Plenty of players waste time on the ground floor, hunting for stairs that are no longer there. Don't bother. Circle outside and use the generator, rubble, or broken edges along the wall to reach the upper level. The switch is up there. It is a handy bit of cover, but it can also trap you if someone hears the climb, so pause and listen before committing.

After the house, swing back toward the central slope and follow the fallen wire south. Keep it in sight without staring at your feet. The southern path is more open than the ruin, and it is where you are most likely to spot movement late. Disable the third switch, then return to the original pole. A surprising number of runs go wrong because players leave after the last switch and forget the trap still needs another interaction. Shut it down, check that the objective has registered, and then decide whether the raid is worth extending. The rewards, five Medium Gun Parts and three Advanced Mechanical Components, are decent, but they are not worth turning a clean quest run into a long gunfight.

The best habit here is to think in landmarks, not exact distances: pole, hill, house, cable, then back to the pole. That little loop keeps exposure down and makes the job repeatable even when patrols or Raiders throw off your approach. If you're short on gear before another attempt, it can make sense to buy ARC Items that suit a low-risk build, then keep the focus on movement rather than fighting. Straight Record is much easier once you stop searching and start reading the terrain.
